Eligibility Criteria 



Nativity: 


Applicant should be an Indian citizen. Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card Holders will be treated on par with Indian citizens for the limited purpose of admission. Both Keralites and Non-Keralites are eligible to apply for the Entrance Examinations. Applicants of Kerala origin will be categorized as ‘Keralites’. Others will be categorized as ‘Non-Keralites’. Non-Keralites are classified as ‘Non-Keralite Category-I’ and ‘Non- Keralite Category II’. 

(A)Keralite : A candidate of Kerala Origin will be categorized as ‘Keralite’. Children of All India Service (AIS) Officers (Non-Keralites) allotted to Kerala Cadre are deemed to be‘Keralites’ as per G.O.(Rt.)No.822/08/H.Edn. dated 29.05.2008. But they will not be eligible for communal/Special/Persons with Disabilities Reservation. 

In order to prove that a candidate is an Indian Citizen of Kerala origin for the limited purpose of eligibility for admission, he/she has to produce a certificate showing the candidate or his/her father or mother was born in Kerala. 

(B)Non-Keralite Category-I :- A candidate who is not of Kerala origin but fulfils anyone of the following conditions will be categorised as 'Non-Keralite Category I'(NK I). 2 

(i) A candidate who has undergone qualifying course in Kerala and who is son/daughter of Non-Keralite parents belong to Government of India/Defence Service, posted to Kerala. 

(ii) A candidate who has undergone qualifying course in Kerala and who is son/daughter of Non-Keralite parents who are serving/served Government of Kerala for a minimum period of two years. 

(iii)A candidate who is not of Kerala Origin but has been a resident of Kerala State for a period of 5(five) years within the period of 12(twelve) years of his/her study. 

(iv)A candidate who is not of Kerala Origin but who has undergone his/her school studies in Kerala from standard VIII to XII. 

Non-Keralite Category I candidates will be considered against ‘State Merit’ seats for Engineering/Medical & Allied courses and will not be eligible for Communal/ Special/Persons with Disabilities reservation. 

(C) Non-Keralite Category-II :- Candidates who do not belong to the ‘Keralite’ or ‘Non- Keralite Category-I’ will be treated as ‘Non-Keralite Category-II'. They are eligible for admission ONLY to the ‘State Merit’ seats in the Private Self-financing Engineering 

Colleges in the State and in the Management Quota seats in Self-financing Engineering institutions under Government control. Non-Keralite candidates will not be considered for admission against reserved seats. 


Educational Qualification 



Medical and Allied Courses 


MBBS/BDS/BSMS Courses: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognised equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology/Biotechnology separately, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology put together, are eligible. In the absence of Biology, Biotechnology will be considered as a subject for academic eligibility. 

BAMS/BHMS: Candidates who have passed higher secondary examination of the board of higher secondary education, Kerala, or examinations recognised equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together, are eligible 

In the absence of Biology, Biotechnology will be considered for the courses BAMS and BSMS

B.Sc Hon (Agri)/B.Sc Hon (Forestry)/BFSc Courses: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognised equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology separately, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together, are eligible. Biotechnology will not be considered as a subject for academic eligibility. 

BVSc & AH Course: Candidates should have secured not less than 50% aggregate marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology for the qualifying examination, in addition to the condition as stipulated in clause 6.2.1(a(iii)) as per regulation 5 of Minimum standards of Veterinary Education Degree Course (BVSc & AH) Regulation, 1993. Relaxation in marks is permissible as stipulated in clause 6.2.4.
