Eligibility Criteria 



Nativity: 


Applicant should be an Indian citizen. Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card Holders will be treated on par with Indian citizens for the limited purpose of admission. Both Keralites and Non-Keralites are eligible to apply for the Entrance Examinations. Applicants of Kerala origin will be categorized as ‘Keralites’. Others will be categorized as ‘Non-Keralites’. Non-Keralites are classified as ‘Non-Keralite Category-I’ and ‘Non- Keralite Category II’. 

(A)Keralite : A candidate of Kerala Origin will be categorized as ‘Keralite’. Children of All India Service (AIS) Officers (Non-Keralites) allotted to Kerala Cadre are deemed to be‘Keralites’ as per G.O.(Rt.)No.822/08/H.Edn. dated 29.05.2008. But they will not be eligible for communal/Special/Persons with Disabilities Reservation. 

In order to prove that a candidate is an Indian Citizen of Kerala origin for the limited purpose of eligibility for admission, he/she has to produce a certificate showing the candidate or his/her father or mother was born in Kerala. 

(B)Non-Keralite Category-I :- A candidate who is not of Kerala origin but fulfils anyone of the following conditions will be categorised as 'Non-Keralite Category I'(NK I). 2 

(i) A candidate who has undergone qualifying course in Kerala and who is son/daughter of Non-Keralite parents belong to Government of India/Defence Service, posted to Kerala. 

(ii) A candidate who has undergone qualifying course in Kerala and who is son/daughter of Non-Keralite parents who are serving/served Government of Kerala for a minimum period of two years. 

(iii)A candidate who is not of Kerala Origin but has been a resident of Kerala State for a period of 5(five) years within the period of 12(twelve) years of his/her study. 

(iv)A candidate who is not of Kerala Origin but who has undergone his/her school studies in Kerala from standard VIII to XII. 

Non-Keralite Category I candidates will be considered against ‘State Merit’ seats for Engineering/Medical & Allied courses and will not be eligible for Communal/ Special/Persons with Disabilities reservation. 

(C) Non-Keralite Category-II :- Candidates who do not belong to the ‘Keralite’ or ‘Non- Keralite Category-I’ will be treated as ‘Non-Keralite Category-II'. They are eligible for admission ONLY to the ‘State Merit’ seats in the Private Self-financing Engineering 

Colleges in the State and in the Management Quota seats in Self-financing Engineering institutions under Government control. Non-Keralite candidates will not be considered for admission against reserved seats. 


Educational Qualification 



Medical and Allied Courses 


MBBS/BDS/BSMS Courses: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognised equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology/Biotechnology separately, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology put together, are eligible. In the absence of Biology, Biotechnology will be considered as a subject for academic eligibility. 

BAMS/BHMS: Candidates who have passed higher secondary examination of the board of higher secondary education, Kerala, or examinations recognised equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together, are eligible 

In the absence of Biology, Biotechnology will be considered for the courses BAMS and BSMS

B.Sc Hon (Agri)/B.Sc Hon (Forestry)/BFSc Courses: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognised equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology separately, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together, are eligible. Biotechnology will not be considered as a subject for academic eligibility. 

BVSc & AH Course: Candidates should have secured not less than 50% aggregate marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology for the qualifying examination, in addition to the condition as stipulated in clause 6.2.1(a(iii)) as per regulation 5 of Minimum standards of Veterinary Education Degree Course (BVSc & AH) Regulation, 1993. Relaxation in marks is permissible as stipulated in clause 6.2.4.

Nationality:


 The applicant should be a Resident/Non Resident Indian National 


Qualifying Exam: 


Candidates appearing for the VITEEE-2015 should have either completed or shall be appearing in 2015, in any one of the following qualifying exams: 

The final examination of the 10+2 system of Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the State Board, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE, New Delhi), 

The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE, New Delhi) 

Intermediate or Two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University 

High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Srilanka) at the Advanced (A) level Candidates who have studied in Regular, Full time and Formal Education alone are eligible to apply 


Eligibility Criteria in the Qualifying Exam 


Candidates appearing for the VITEEE in 2015 should have secured an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination (+2/ Intermediate) 

The average marks obtained in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology (PCM / PCB) in +2 (or its equivalent) put together should be 50% for the following categories: 

i) Candidates belonging to SC/ST 

ii) Fill in the proforma as given in Annexure-III and have it attested by a competent authority CERTIFICATE TO PROVE NATIVITY should be produced at the time of counselling failing which they will not be considered for admission 

iii) Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible for all the 15 B.Tech Degree Programmes 

iv) Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible for B.Tech Bio-Medical Engg and Biotechnology programs; they are also eligible for B.Tech Computer Science and Engg (Spec in Bioinformatics) but after joining, registering Mathematics as bridge course is mandatory 


Age Limit 


Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1st July 1993 are eligible to apply for VITEEE-2015 the date of birth as recorded in the High School/SSC/X Certificate will be considered authentic 

Candidates should produce this certificate in original as a proof of their age at the time of counselling, failing which they will be disqualified 


Pattern of the Entrance Examination (CBT) 


i) All Questions will be of Objective Type

ii) Part-I: Physics 

iii) Part-II: Chemistry 

iv) Part-III: Mathematics /Biology 

v) Candidates attempting Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics are eligible for all the 15 
programs offered 

vi) Candidates attempting Physics, Chemistry & Biology are eligible for B.Tech. Bio-Medical Engg, Biotechnology and Computer Science and Engg (Spec. in Bioinformatics) programs only 

vii) The selection of pattern (Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics or Biology) has to be decided at the time of slot booking 

viii) All the questions will be mostly from the State Board of Higher Secondary Education and the CBSE syllabus only

ix) Each part has 40 questions and each question carries one mark 

x) Each question is followed by 4 alternative answers; the candidate will have to choose the correct answer and click the same 

xi) No negative marks for wrong answers 

xii) The Question paper will be in English only 


Admission Procedure 


The admission will be purely on the basis of the marks secured in the VITEEE-2015, conducted by VIT University

Candidates who have not appeared for the VITEEE are not eligible for admission 

The candidates will be short-listed based on their entrance examination marks and will be called for the counselling

e-Admit Card


 The e-Admit card will be generated once the candidate has booked his/her schedule through the Online Test Booking System 

The e-Admit card will be auto-generated for only those candidates who book a slot using the Online Test Booking system before the last date 

The e-Admit card will indicate the e-Admit card number, photograph of the student, address of the test center, test date and time selected by the candidate; discrepancies, if any, must be brought to the notice of VIT University immediately 

The e-Admit card will be made available for candidates on www.vit.ac.in; candidate should provide the application form number and Online Test Booking password to download the e- Admit card 

The copy of the e-Admit card will also be emailed to the candidate


 How to Apply 


Candidates can also apply online at www.vit.ac.in through the following mode i) Net banking /Credit card/Debit card; ii) Demand Draft mode (online applicants need to pay Rs.940/- only)

 The online applicants applying through Demand Draft mode should send the hardcopy of the application form to the University addressed to the "Director - UG Admissions”, VIT University, Vellore-632014 


Issue of Application Forms - OMR 


The Prospectus and the information brochure for the B.Tech programme, along with the necessary enclosures which include the Application Form and a printed self addressed envelope, can be obtained against cash payment of Rs.990/- from the various post offices as given in the VIT website www.vit.ac.in 

Candidates can obtain the application form in person from the

 i) VIT University, Vellore Campus 

ii) VIT University, Chennai Campus 

iii) Anna Nagar Office, 

New No. 6, (Old No W-73), Second Street (Opposite Towers Club), Anna Nagar, Chennai-600040 , by handing over a Demand Draft for Rs 990/- drawn in favour of ‘VIT University’, payable at Vellore Candidates can also obtain the application form through post by sending a Demand Draft for Rs.990 /-drawn in favour of ‘VIT University’, payable at Vellore, with a covering letter addressed to “Director - UG Admissions”, VIT University, Vellore-632014, requesting for the application form and indicating their complete postal address 

On receipt of the DD, the application form with the enclosures will be sent by post 

The postal charges will be borne by the Institute. Candidate should write his/her name, Mobile Number and address on the reverse of the demand draft 

Candidates are advised to purchase the information brochure/application form only through means mentioned above and not from any private publishers/ vendors; fake application forms will not be processed and will be rejected 


Returning the Completed OMR Application 


The application form duly completed should be checked, if all the items have been correctly filled and appropriate codes indicating your exact choice have been put in the right spaces provided against each. You are advised to go through the checklist available on the inside front cover of the brochure Also ensure that you have adhered to the instructions for completing the computerized OMR application form (section-19 in the brochure) before mailing the application 

Receipt of Completed Application Form: The last date for the receipt of completed application forms at VIT is 27th February 2015; any application received after the last date will not be accepted 

Any delay in receiving the application by the candidate will not be considered a valid reason for late submission; the institute will not accept responsibility for any postal delay, irregularity or loss in postal transit

The following documents in original are required to be submitted at the time of admission: a) Qualifying exam mark statements of all attempts; b) Transfer Certificate / School Leaving Certificate; c) Migration Certificate (if issued by the Board); d) Conduct Certificate Community Certificate (For SC/ST only); e) Nativity Certificate (For candidates hailing from Jammu and Kashmir and the North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura); f) Any age proof certificate (Photocopy only); g) Provisional Admission Letter. Eligibility Criteria 


For admission to all the above programmes except B.Pharm (Hons): 


Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and adequate proficiency in English 


For admission to B.Pharm (Hons): 


Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and adequate proficiency in English

 However candidates with PCM subjects may also apply for Pharmacy program

Further, the candidate should have obtained a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology subjects in 12th class examination, at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology subjects and adequate proficiency in English

 However, admissions will be made only on his/her merit position based on the score obtained in BITSAT-2015 

Only students who are appearing for 12th class examination in 2015 or who have passed the 12th class examination in 2014 are eligible to appear for BITSAT-2015
Students who are presently studying in BITS at any of its campuses are not eligible to appear for BITSAT-2015 For further details and terms and conditions visit the website www.bitsadmission.com


 Direct Admission to Board Toppers:


 Students who obtain first rank in any central or state level board exam in India held in the year 2015 will be given direct admission to the programme of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT-2015 score subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria In addition to applying and appearing for BITSAT-2015, candidates will have to apply for admission to BITS through a separate application form for seeking admission to programmes offered at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses along with the detail of their 12th class marks The prescribed application form, the detailed application procedure and the final list of degree programmes offered will be available by 20th May 2015 on the BITS website www.bitsadmission.com


 BITSAT-2015 Test Format


 It is a 3 hour test, offered to candidates on computers at dedicated centers in different cities in India and at the Dubai campus The test consists of four parts:

Part I: Physics
Part II: Chemistry
Part III: (a) English Proficiency and (b) Logical Reasoning 
Part IV: Mathematics or Biology (For B. Pharm candidates) 

All questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions); each question with choice of four answers, only one being correct choice 

Each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark (-1mark). 

No marks are awarded for questions not attempted While the candidate can skip a question, the computer will not allow the candidate to choose more than one option as correct answer; there will be 150 questions in all 


Test Centers


 In order to facilitate a large number of students all over India to participate in this test, apart from Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses of BITS where it is expected that a large number of students will take the test, the Institute is also planning to offer the tests at dedicated test centers in several cities The planned test centers are in the following cities: 

Agartala, Agra, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Dubai Campus of BIT (International Centre), Ghaziabad, Goa Compus of BITS, Gorakhpur, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Gwalior, Hyderabad Campus of BITS, Hyderabad City, Indore, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kalyan, Kanpur, Kolkatta, Lucknwo, Madurai, Mumbai, Muzzafarpur, Mysore, Nagpur, Nasik, Noida, Patna, Pilani Campus of BITS, Pimri Chinchwad, Pune, Raipur, Rajkot, Ranchi, Roorkee, Siliguri, Surat, Tirupati, Trivandrum, Vadodara, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam


 How to Apply for BITSAT 2015
 


Interested candidates should register their names for BITSAT-2015 by applying in the prescribed application form online; complete the application form online at www.bitsadmission.com and pay the prescribed fees

 Also take the print out of the filled form for your future reference

 The prescribed fee for BITSAT 2015 is Rs.2090/- (Rs.1590/- for female candidates) 

If a candidate chooses Dubai as a test center the application fee for both male and female candidates will be same and will be US $ 50 (or Indian Rs.3100/-)

 Details for payment of fees are available at the website while applying online

 Deadline to apply for BITSAT-2015 online along with the fee payment is 16th February 2015 

Those who register for the test and reserve test dates have to download the ‘Hall ticket’, along with instructions, from BITS website as per the schedule given earlier; the tests will be conducted during 14th May to 29th May 2015 


Procedure for Applying 


In addition to applying and appearing for BITSAT-2015, candidates have to also apply for admission to BITS giving details of their 12th class marks and preferences to different degree programmes offered 

The prescribed application form for admission, the detailed application procedure and the final list of Degree programmes offered will be available at the BITS website, by 20th May 2015

 The completed form with the required application fee has to be submitted so as to reach the under mentioned on or before 05.00 p.m. on 30th June 2015 


Important Note 


i) Candidates who appear for BITSAT-2015 may also seek admission to the Dubai Campus of BITS Pilani (For more details see http://universe.bits-pilani.ac.in/dubai/) 

ii) Candidates holding a foreign passport and have valid SAT scores are also eligible to apply for admission under “Internatinal students scheme”, (for more details http://www.bitsadmission.com/ois)
